I have always heard you must eat to lose weight and I believed it but only to a degree. After last month I am now a real believer.

As I shared in my last post I set 10 pound weight loss goals to upcoming events in my personal life. Well in May and June I lost 6 pounds each month. So I was determined to lose 10 pounds in July especially since I was going to have a new set of after pictures taken professionally in August. So I decided I was only going to eat 1500 calories daily. I was very good and kept that goal for the entire month of July BUT my total weight lose for July was only 2 pounds. I was so disappointed it was the lowest weight loss since I began my journey.

I was totally in disbelief. How could I only lose 2 pounds eating only 1500 calories a day??? So I did some research at the first of August. A person my height, weight and age should eat 2450 calories to maintain their weight and 1850 to lose weight. So what I was doing by eating so few calories was putting my body in starvation mode and my body was holding on to weight for survival.

Three days a go I started eating more and I have already lost 3 pounds. HooRay, more than I lost the entire month of July.

I wanted to share this personal experience so anyone thinking eating very little is the way to lose weight is mistaken. I learned the hard way. Now I am a believer you must eat to lose weight and stay healthy.

I would take Wind Chill of 10 below zero and a foot of snow any day over a Heat Index of 110. This heat is kicking my butt.

Being overweight makes it even harder to make it through this extreme heat we are having in the Midwest. I was thinking this morning how hard it has been on me the last week. If I still had on the 78 pounds I have lost, I honestly don't know how I would make it.

I still have 80 pounds to lose which is a lot. However, I encourage anyone that has a lot of weight to lose to not focus on your total weight loss goal but focus on 10 pounds at a time. It is amazing how much better you start to feel as soon as you have dropped 10 pounds and then it even gets better as 10 pounds increases to 20 pounds of weight loss and even better as you continue on your weight loss journey.

I used the excuse for years, I have to much weight to lose to even try and it will take way to long to lose it all. Well then as I get older it amazes me at how fast time passes. It seems like we just get through the Holiday season and it is time for Christmas again. Then I started to think if I don't do something I will be overweight as each Holiday season rolls around. Yea maybe I won't lose it all from one Christmas season to the next but I can make a huge improvement.

Plus the other thing I realized is time is not going to stand still so I used it to my advantage and set a new 10 pound weight loss goal according to different personal events throughout the calender year. There are a lot of special events which occur throughout the year so it makes it easy to work toward my goals.

Recently I have had more than one person say to me ... how do you stay on a diet? My answer is ... diet what diet? I NEVER NEVER NEVER let it enter my mind I am on a diet. I sincerely don't feel like I am. I am only making wiser and healthier choices.

I found after a few months into my weight loss journey if I ever had the urge to over eat it was not because I was hungry. But because I would allow my brain to think about snacking on something high in calories or one of my favorite comfort foods.

I bet I am no different than most people. If you are honest with your self and will really think about it, you would admit, many times you eat out of habit more than because you are hungry.

It doesn't happen a lot anymore but if I do ever let those thoughts creep into my mind. I take a deep breathe and search deep into my soul (stomach) :) I always find the same answer. I am really not hungry it is all in my mind.

Recently a new visitor on the blog asked a very good question which I have not been able to get out of my head. Sheri asked what type excercise program do I use? Well I wish I could say I excercise an hour a day or even 3 days a week. But the honest truth is I don't excercise at all.

I was 160 pounds overweight when I started on my journey and I couldn't excercise or at least I was afraid too. I feared I would have a heart attack. However, there is no doubt now I could excercise and had planned to start walking at the first of this month but we have been having a dangerous heat wave here in the Midwest and I used it as an excuse to wait. :)

I do 100% believe excercise is very important and accelerates weight loss. As I continue on this journey I am determined to make excercise a part of my new life.

I can't believe how fast the summer is flying by. I have intended to write on the blog for several days and each time I am sidetracked. I have 6 adorable grand kids and they keep me hop'n in the summer. My daughter told me yesterday schools starts in a month. It seems like they just got out for the summer.

Recently we celebrated the 4th of July. We always celebrate with family with a cookout and sitting around the pool. This is the first time in 35 years I didn't wear a "granny" bathing suit. You know what I'm taking about ... the swim dress type and when it gets wet it hangs below your knees. Not only was I able to wear a normal bathing suit I received compliments on it. I went to bed that night with a smile on my face as the thought ran through my mind ... YES it is finally happening! I am beginning to experience life as a more normal size person.

In the beginning of summer I had 100 more pounds to my goal ... today I am 83 pounds to my goal. If you want to join me on my journey to a healthier lifestyle give SlimmMax a try. It doesn't matter if you need to loose 10 pounds or 100 pounds you can do it.

As I have shared before I have been a severe diabetic for over 8 years and being overweight for so many years is what caused my diabetes. In the past 8 years I have suffered with constant Kidney/Bladder and Yeast infections, health issues diabetics learn to live with. Plus my eye site has suffered due to complications from being diabetic. My eye site was changing at such a rapid pace I had to stop wearing contacts which I was very disappointed about.

I began my weight loss journey less than a year ago. I have lost 70 pounds and went from a size 26/28 to a 14/16. The weight loss which allowed me to get my diabetes under control would have never happen without SlimMax.

The weight loss and controlling my diabetes has also brought many other improvements to my health. I have not had a Kidney/Bladder or Yeast infection in 9 months. Plus I am wearing contacts again. These are all things I am very excited about but the most amazing development is, under the supervision of my doctor I have been able to cut my daily diabetic medication by more than half. My doctor has said I will probably need to take the oral medications until I reach my weight loss goal or maybe for the rest of my life. However, the insulin shots I will be able to stop soon (if I stay on course) which is the best news I have received as I continue my weight loss journey. Who likes getting a shot everyday? NOT ME!
